Bigfoot Biomedical announced today that it appointed three senior hires with experience in the diabetes and healthcare sectors.

Milpitas, California–based Bigfoot hired Matthew Clemente as SVP of development, Robin A. Beadle as VP of marketing and Scott Snead as VP of national accounts. All three positions are newly created.

Bigfoot said in a news release that the hires will aid the company as it seeks to expand access to the Bigfoot Unity Diabetes Management Program it launched earlier this year. The hires will also help center the company’s focus on product development to position Bigfoot for future growth.

The Bigfoot Unity platform allows healthcare professionals (HCPs) to review patient data taken from the patient’s prescribed Bigfoot Unity system, integrating with Abbott’s FreeStyle Libre 2 continuous glucose monitor (CGM). Data, including CGM and insulin dose timing information, is automatically captured by smart insulin pen caps and a mobile app and uploaded to the Bigfoot Clinic Hub secure web portal whenever WiFi or a cellular signal is present.

“After quickly contracting with clinics in seven states across the U.S., we are now primed to expand availability to more diabetes centers and endocrinology practices, as well as targeting key health systems,” Bigfoot Biomedical CEO Jeffrey Brewer said in the release. “Our aim is to transform the standard of care for the millions of people with diabetes on insulin therapy. At the same time, we have a portfolio of assets that we’ll be developing as we continue to make inroads into the commercial marketplace with our innovative insulin delivery solutions.”

Clemente previously served as a corporate VP at Novo Nordisk, responsible for engineering and portfolio management with the company’s drug delivery and connected devices. Another previous position for Clemente was CTO at Eli Lilly.

Beadle joins Bigfoot from Glooko, where she was director of global marketing & head of corporate social responsibility. Before that, she spent 10 years in product marketing at Abbott Diabetes Care.

Snead served as SVP of payer solutions for Jiseki Health and brings two decades of experience with national payers and integrated delivery networks.

“The strength, experience and passion of our Bigfoot team is truly unmatched,” Brewer added. “We could not be more excited about our future and our capacity to bring meaningful innovation to people with diabetes, their caregivers and their health care professionals.”
