Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) has appointed a former Dexcom leader as the new head of Americas for its Diabetes business unit.

On LinkedIn, Laura Endres said in a post that last week was her first with the medtech giant’s Diabetes unit. She spent more than a decade at continuous glucose monitor (CGM) maker Dexcom, bringing significant diabetes experience with her. Her nearly 14-year stint at Dexcom concluded with the role of SVP for North America channels and payors.

Endres wrote on the social media site: “After over a decade with a CGM leader, I’m excited to be joining the leader in automated insulin delivery. After one week on the job, this is what I know: this team is hungry! They are eager to deliver for themselves, for Medtronic Diabetes and most importantly: our customers. There is a lot to learn but one thing I know already is that with this team, we’ll accomplish a lot.”

Nihal Singh, VP of U.S. field sales and clinical for Medtronic Diabetes, called Endres’ appointment “exciting news” on LinkedIn.

“Bringing a wealth of experience in the medtech/diabetes industry and a fresh perspective from her time at Dexcom, Laura will undoubtedly propel us forward,” Singh wrote. “We are energized and confident that with her leadership and our eager team, we’ll achieve new milestones and drive impactful change.”

Endres joins the business at an interesting time, as Medtronic looks to advance diabetes technologies on multiple fronts. It seeks a potential expansion of automated insulin delivery to type 2 diabetes and recently submitted its latest CGM to the FDA. The company also has next-generation pumps in the pipeline and new offerings on the way through a landmark collaboration with Abbott.
