The companies said today that the first commercial patients have now received their paired continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and automated insulin delivery (AID) system. They announced their intent to integrate technologies in April 2025. The collaboration made twiist the first AID system compatible with Eversense 365, the world’s first and only one-year CGM.
Senseonics launched Eversense 365 with its global distribution partner, Ascensia Diabetes Care, in October 2024. It has since taken over full commercial activity for the technology. The system also received clearance as an integrated CGM (iCGM) system, meaning it can work with compatible medical devices. Those include insulin pumps as part of automated insulin delivery systems.
Eversense 365, an implantable system, rests under the skin for the duration of a year. Users can change its external, silicone-based adhesive daily with almost no skin reactions.
twiist, meanwhile, works with the twiist Loop algorithm, directly measures the volume of insulin delivered with every microdose. It offers the capability and flexibility to address each patient’s individual dosing needs. Sequel’s system utilizes sound waves that measure each pulse of insulin. This enables precision and helps understand exactly how much insulin the patient receives in a dose.
The system features iiSure technology, which includes four checkpoints to provide accurate delivery and alert users to blockages quickly. Cleared for ages six and up with type 1 diabetes, it offers a personalized way to manage the condition. Sequel began its rollout for the AID system in 2025.
Commentary from Senseonics and Sequel Med Tech officials
Tim Goodnow, president and CEO of Senseonics, said:
“While our technologies are unique, our goal is the same – to improve lives and reduce complexity for patients living with diabetes. We are proud to partner with Sequel and provide the necessary glucose monitoring data to power the twiist Loop algorithm, which enables real-time insulin delivery decisions through the twiist pump. Patients and providers want reliable, long-term automated glucose readings and we’ve taken a major step forward in simplifying and personalizing diabetes management by integrating Eversense 365’s one-year CGM system with the twiist AID system for patients that require insulin.”
Alan Lotvin, CEO of Sequel MedTech, said:
“Diabetes management is deeply personal, and no single approach works for everyone. Our focus on personalization means Sequel is committed to creating choice for people living with diabetes; integration with the Eversense CGM is an important step in this journey, enabling more people to experience the precision and confidence that twiist AID system brings to diabetes management.”
