Siemens Healthineers lands CE Mark for Atellica advanced diagnostics system

September 25, 2017 By Sarah Faulkner

Siemens HealthineersSiemens Healthineers (NYSE:SI) said today that its Atellica Solution won CE Mark and that the advanced diagnostic system is now available in Europe, the U.S., South America and Asia.

The system consists of scalable immunoassay and chemistry analyzers, the company said, and can operate as a stand-alone system or connect to Aptio Automation.

“The launch of the game-changing Atellica Solution revolutionizes sample management and provides customers with unprecedented flexibility to future-proof their labs,” Franz Walt, president of laboratory diagnostics, said in prepared remarks. “The Atellica Solution was developed through extensive market research with laboratory professionals around the world. The result is a ground-breaking solution that provides simplified workflow, tighter control, and more time to focus on driving better business and clinical outcomes.”

The system features an immunoassay analyzer that can run up to 440 tests per hour, making use of a dual incubation ring design, temperature and humidity controls, magnets for relevant particle separation and robust washing protocols.

The device also includes a bi-directional, magnetic transport technology called Atellica Magline Transport, which gives laboratories control over every sample.

The Atellica Solution can process more than 30 different sample container types, the company said. It includes 170 assays and a 10-minute turnaround for certain cardiac, reproductive and thyroid tests.
