Propeller Health today launched a feature within the Propeller mobile app designed to connect users directly with pharmacy services.
The Madison, Wis.-based company kicked off the feature with Walgreens, giving Walgreens patients the option to manage their asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease medication regimen within the mobile app.
Using the My Pharmacy feature, people will be able to refill prescriptions at Walgreen pharmacies, locate a nearby pharmacy and chat with a pharmacist, according to Propeller.
The company said it plans to roll out the My Pharmacy feature for iOS this week and make it available for Android users in the next month. Propeller also plans to work with other programs and partners this year for the feature.
“The ability to refill a prescription or talk to a pharmacist through an existing digital health tool is an important step in making care easier, faster and less stressful for patients,” chief technology officer Greg Tracy said in prepared remarks. “We’re thrilled to work with Walgreens on this launch and hope our collaboration will serve as a blueprint for future pharmacy integrations within our platform.”
“Our collaboration with Propeller is the latest example of our focus on working with healthcare companies to bring new, innovative services to our patients and customers,” Giovanni Monti, VP & director of healthcare innovation at Walgreens Boots Alliance, added.
Earlier this week, ResMed (NYSE:RMD) completed its $225 million acquisition of Propeller and its digital medicine platform.
