Ascensia Diabetes Care, a PHC Holdings subsidiary, today announced the appointment of Peter Bodlund as president and CEO.
Bodlund succeeds Koichiro Sato, effective April 1, 2026. Sato continues in his roles as COO of the PHC Group and head of PHC Group’s Diabetes Management business.
An experienced leader across global healthcare and life sciences organizations, Bodlund most recently served as Ascensia’s COO. At the company, he has been closely involved in the strategic priorities, according to a news release.
Now, Bodlund steps into the corner office as the Basel, Switzerland-based diabetes care company looks to deliver strong results in its diabetes management technology, including blood glucose monitoring systems. His appointment comes not long after Senseonics took over commercial activity for the Eversense continuous glucose monitor (CGM) systems. Ascensia previously served as the exclusive global distributor of the implantable CGM in a partnership that began in 2020.
The company says its leadership transition reflects its sustained performance and continued focus on growth and value creation.
“Ascensia is well positioned for continued success as it enters its next chapter,” said Sato. “Peter brings proven strategic and operational leadership experience, with a clear focus on results, and I am confident he will lead Ascensia effectively as president and CEO.”
