Fresenius Kabi announced that it signed a multi-year purchase agreement with Mayo Clinic centered around large-volume infusion pumps.

The Lake Zurich, Illinois-based company expects Mayo Clinic to purchase 10,000 Ivenix pumps for hospitals and clinics in Minnesota, Arizona and Florida. It marks the largest contract for Ivenix pumps signed by the company to date.

Ivenix, a uniquely designed infusion system, features a smart pump with a smartphone-like touchscreen and patented pumping mechanism. The pumps also interface with hospital information systems and electronic medical records. Fresenius Kabi acquired the Ivenix pump technology for $240 million in 2022.

In the deal, Ivenix brought its infusion system with a large-volume infusion pump with administration sets, management tools and analytics. The company launched the FDA-cleared infusion system in 2021.

Dr. Christian Hauer, president of Fresenius Kabi MedTech, said in a news release that technology transforms patient care. At the company, he said, the focus remains around scaling advanced technologies and essential medicines to benefit more patients in more places. Hauer said the company is “honored to collaborate with — and to serve — the care teams at Mayo.”

“For our customers, patients and partners, Fresenius Kabi is committed to enhancing the intelligence and reliability of infusion systems. “This agreement represents the culmination of a tremendous amount of work by our engineering and commercialization teams, and we are committed to delivering an outstanding experience for Mayo and its care teams,” added Pete Allen, SVP, U.S. infusion fherapy and nutrition.
