Insulet (Nasdaq:PODD) announced today that it has partnered with Calm, a leading consumer mental health company.
The companies say they are coming together to provide emotional well-being resources for people living with diabetes, their caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
Acton, Massachusetts-based Insulet said the collaboration marks Calm’s first integrated content partnership and collection with a medtech company. It introduces bespoke mindfulness content called The Mind in Range Collection. The collection features short meditations, a breathing exercise, and a new Calm Sleep Story. Calm and Insulet designed these offerings specifically for the diabetes community.
Beginning today, Calm now offers a suite of free-to-access mindfulness tools created for the diabetes community. This includes a Sleep Story narrated by fashion model Lila Moss, a user of Insulet’s Omnipod who lives with type 1 diabetes. It also features guided meditations and a breathing exercise.
Insulet says this initiative targets people with diabetes who need more holistic care as mental health remains overlooked. It said studies show that mindfulness-based stress reduction can meaningfully reduce stress for people with diabetes over time.
This marks the latest collaboration for Insulet to bring diabetes awareness and resources to more people. The company introduced Dyasonic, a comic book hero with type 1 diabetes, last year. It also introduced “Omnipod Bay” into the video game “Animal Crossing” through a new feature announced four years ago.
Most recently, Insulet showcased Omnipod through the television series “Scrubs.” Read more about these promotional efforts in a recent interview with Senior Director, U.S. Consumer Marketing, Lucas Escobar.
Insulet said it plans to roll out the new Calm initiative with bespoke content throughout the year.
Commentary from Insulet and Calm leadership
Manoj Raghunandanan, Insulet chief growth officer, said:
“The unmet needs and daily realities of people living with diabetes shape how we innovate and who we choose to partner with. Living with this condition requires constant decisions, and over time that responsibility can create real stress and anxiety. Global data suggest that nearly 80% of people living with diabetes suffer burnout from the emotional strain and demands of daily management. We hold ourselves to a clear standard: do more for people while asking less of them. Partnering with Calm recognizes the emotional dimension of diabetes and expands the support we provide beyond physical outcomes.”
Dr. Chris Mosunic, Calm chief clinical officer, said:
“Mindfulness can play a powerful role in improving quality of life for people living with diabetes. By combining Calm’s expertise in this area with Insulet’s leadership in diabetes technology, we’re delivering tools and support that reduce cognitive burden and relieve emotional stress to improve mental wellness.”
