Aptar, Enable Injections partner on digital companion offering for enFuse wearable injector

Aptar Digital Health and Enable Injections announced a strategic partnership to deliver digital offerings with the enFuse wearable injector system.

The companies aim for the digital solution to guide patients and caregivers throughout the injection process. They hope to support engagement before, during and after administration.

Cincinnati-based Enable develops the enFuse syringe transfer system for drug delivery. enFuse, an on-body delivery system, provides subcutaneous abdominal bolus administration of drug or biologic products in accordance with the drug product requirements. The mechanical, wearable device can deliver large volumes of small molecule and biologic medications subcutaneously. Patients can receive their needed treatment in a single injection under the skin, rather than the intravenous route.

Through this partnership, Aptar plans to deliver a companion digital solution for the enFuse system. It designed the solution to enhance the patient experience and support adherence-related programs.

Key features may include treatment data recording, onboarding and training modules, injection guidance, patient-reported outcomes and symptom tracking. It captures adherence data and patient-reported outcomes remotely, stores them securely and makes them available through analytics dashboards. These dashboards generate actionable insights intended to support clinical development, launch readiness and real-world use.

Aptar and Enable hope to empower patients and caregivers with greater confidence and control over the treatment process. Aptar says it built the companion digital solution on a flexible and scalable architecture. It may support use cases from clinical trials through commercialization, aligned with development and launch strategies.

Commentary from Aptar and Enable officials

Michael D. Hooven, chair and CEO of Enable Injections, said:

“This collaboration seeks to enhance the treatment experience of patients beyond the moment of injection,” said Michael D. Hooven, Chairman and CEO of Enable Injections. “Together, we will combine innovative drug delivery with digital support tools. This can help patients remain engaged in their therapy and enable healthcare providers to better understand and support each patient’s journey.”

Damien McKeon, SVP, Strategic Partnerships, Aptar Digital Health, said:

“We are excited to partner with Enable Injections to help bring the next generation of drug delivery solutions to life. Large-volume biologic therapies are increasingly used to treat complex chronic conditions. They often require long-term adherence to achieve optimal outcomes. Digital solutions supporting treatment tracking and patient engagement can help address common adherence challenges associated with self-administration.”
