CamDiab introduces fully closed-loop automated insulin delivery tech

CamDiab announced today that it is introducing CamAPS Liberty, a fully closed-loop feature for its CamAPS FX app.

The integration of Liberty — which the company labeled the world’s first fully closed-loop feature — supports users with type 1 diabetes when daily demands prove challenging. It pauses the need to count carbohydrates or deliver meal boluses, fully automating insulin delivery.

CamDiab unveiled the technology today at the Advanced Technologies & Treatments for Diabetes (ATTD) Congress 2026 in Barcelona.

The company said its latest innovation boost the mental energy, well-being and quality of life of CamAPS FX users while ensuring effective glucose management. It plans to make the fully closed-loop feature accessible to all users, pending market-specific approvals and availability.

“CamAPS Liberty represents a huge milestone for the diabetes community, marking the dawn of commercially available fully closed-loop technology. Our focus has always been on people, not just innovation,” said Roman Hovorka, founder of CamDiab. “By embedding it into our CamAPS FX app, CamDiab is ensuring this progress remains accessible, equitable and truly centered around the needs of those living with type 1 diabetes. This feature provides additional support beyond glycemic outcomes, when people need it most.”

More about the CamDiab CamAPS Liberty feature

CamDiab offers the FDA-approved mylife CamAPS FX app for automating insulin delivery in tandem with MyLife’s (formerly Ypsomed Diabetes Care’s) insulin delivery pumps. The mylife CamAPS FX on iOS has full compatibility with leading continuous glucose monitors (CGMs). Those include the FreeStyle Libre 3 and Libre 3 Plus from Abbott and the Dexcom G6 so customers can use their preferred device.

Earlier this year, the company said it received European approval for its fully closed-loop automated insulin delivery algorithm.

When activated, a user can enable a fully closed-loop mode, eliminating the need to count carbohydrates or deliver a pre-meal insulin bolus. Powered by a more proactive version of the CamAPS algorithm, Liberty can anticipate and respond to glucose changes.

All existing CamAPS FX features remain available to ensure maximum flexibility, enabling users to optimize therapy to individual needs. Automated data sharing via Companion, Glooko, mylife Cloud and the CamAPS two-week PDF report also continues uninterrupted.

The company said its feature provides an option for people experiencing periods of stress, travel, busy work, school commitments or other life events, as they may benefit from reducing the cognitive and emotional load of diabetes management. It complements, but does not replace, an existing diabetes management plan, CamDiab said.
