An Irish construction company said on LinkedIn that it completed work on a Dexcom (Nasdaq:DXCM) facility in Athenry, Ireland.
John Paul Construction posted that it completed the Dexcom Medical Devices Facility, a state-of-the-art manufacturing and office development, putting the finishing touches on a 25-month program to build the facility for the San Diego-based continuous glucose monitor (CGM) developer.
Dexcom broke ground on the facility in January 2024 after announcing plans to invest $325 million in Athenry in May 2023. Breaking ground on the facility marks the first steps toward bringing more than 1,000 jobs to the area. The company says its investment represented one of the biggest single private sector investments ever in the West of Ireland.
Dexcom is not the only CGM maker to break ground in Ireland, as Abbott opened its Kilkenny FreeStyle Libre manufacturing plant in April 2024.

According to John Paul Construction, the facility includes a highly technical production environment with cleanrooms, plus supporting laboratory and engineering spaces. It also features a four-story office building.
The plant marks Dexcom’s first manufacturing facility outside the U.S. Once operational, it will develop and manufacture Dexcom’s real-time CGMs, led by the latest-generation G7.
In its LinkedIn post, the construction company concluded: “Dexcom has been a valued client throughout, and we appreciate the trust placed in us to deliver this significant investment. We would like to thank the design team, our project partners and the wider site team for their commitment and professionalism in bringing this project to completion.”
