Dexcom‘s (Nasdaq:DXCM) C-suite is seeing another of its members take on multiple roles. Its chief financial officer will now also serve as chief operating officer.

Jereme Sylvain joined the diabetes tech company in 2018, and has been its CFO and executive VP since 2021. His new COO hat will add oversight of Dexcom’s global operations and quality teams, as the company looks ahead to the development of its next-gen G8 continuous glucose monitor and broadening the reach of its over-the-counter Stelo wearable.

Dexcom’s previous COO, Jake Leach, had claimed the title of president last year as well, before formally taking the helm of the company as CEO in January, following the departure of long-time chief Kevin Sayer.

“His deep understanding of our business, operational discipline and customer focus make him the right leader for this expanded role,” Leach said in a statement. “I am confident that Jereme will help us scale more effectively as we advance our goal to empower millions more people to take control of health.”

At the top of this year, Leach outlined Dexcom’s roadmap in an interview with Drug Delivery Business News, including plans to grow internationally as well as make gains via pharmacy shelves and cash-pay options.

This past July, Dexcom was also selected by the FDA as the first manufacturer to join a digital health device pilot aimed at improving care for people with chronic conditions.

The agency’s Technology-Enabled Meaningful Patient Outcomes program, or TEMPO, will work with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to collect real-world data toward the development of new regulatory and reimbursement pathways for certain digital devices, including in low-acuity conditions such as prediabetes.

Dexcom’s Glucose Health Program will be evaluated for its use by people and their healthcare providers in monitoring nutrition, delivering tailored lifestyle guidance and potentially screening for prediabetes and type 2 diabetes.
