Stelo, the first FDA-cleared over-the-counter glucose biosensor, joins the G7 continuous glucose monitor (CGM) in offering this new feature. Smart Food Logging encourages and enables users to log meals more consistently through the use of just a single photo.

Users take a photo of their food in the app, and AI automatically identifies the ingredients and populates the meal description. Dexcom said its G7 is the only prescription CGM in the U.S. to support this feature. (Speaking to Drug Delivery Business News at the American Diabetes Association’s 85th Scientific Sessions in Chicago, Dexcom President and COO Jake Leach outlined the benefits of this new feature.)
Now, Stelo adds AI food logging to its GenAI-powered weekly insights and its integration with Oura. The platform also offers a new focused view for logged events, called Glucose Impact, to better understand how daily activities affect glucose levels.
Users of Stelo and G7 can now access the new feature by updating to the latest version of the app on iOS and Android platforms.
“Diet plays a crucial role in managing glucose levels, and our new Smart Food Logging feature removes barriers to food tracking, making it easier to consistently log and understand the impact of meals,” Leach said in a news release. “Smart Food Logging has long been a highly requested feature from users across our product portfolio, so we’re excited to bring it to market and hope this enhanced tracking feature makes managing glucose levels even simpler.”
