San Diego-based Dexcom plans to formally begin the new app rollout in July for Apple iPhone and Android users in the U.S. The company
At ADA 2026, Dexcom said it planned to offer select users the opportunity for early access to a reimagined app experience for its Stelo OTC continuous glucose monitor (CGM). The company said it received FDA clearance for the updated app last month. This launch also comes on the heels of FDA clearance for Stelo for children, announced by the FDA earlier this month.
Stelo became the first OTC CGM system granted clearance in March 2024, initially getting the green light for people ages 18 and older. Stelo launched later that year.
The sensor is a small, wearable and designed specifically for people with type 2 diabetes who do not use insulin. Worn on the back of the arm, the sensor provides insights directly to a user’s smartphone. Stelo features a 15-day wear based on the company’s G7 platform. It offers a software experience tailored specifically for non-insulin users. The company said it makes it easier for the target population to access CGM and offers an option for those who don’t have insurance coverage for CGM.
Dexcom said its reimagined app aims to make glucose insights easier to understand and act on. It hopes to help build awareness of how food, activity, sleep and stress influence overall wellbeing.
The company also reiterated plans to launch Stelo internationally. It expects to bring the sensor to the UK, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea later this year, continuing into 2027.
Jake Leach, president and CEO of Dexcom, said:
“Glucose matters for everyone and better understanding it can help prevent serious health complications. That’s why we’re working to expand access to glucose biosensing to make preventive, personalized care a reality and making our Stelo app experience more approachable with real-time insights that help people act earlier, before disease takes hold.”
