DiabetesWise launches Prescription Tool to help providers pick devices for patients

February 21, 2023 By Sean Whooley

DiabetesWiseDiabetesWise announced today that it launched its advanced Prescription Tool for the DiabetesWise Pro website.

In April 2022, the company launched its DiabetesWise Pro website to help providers make informed decisions on diabetes devices. The easy-to-use and free tool offers access in the clinical practice or at the point of care. Providers can identify the best available diabetes device on the market for their patients. It also provides the necessary steps for ordering the device based on insurance type.

According to a news release, the advanced Prescription Tool aims to address a number of concerns. DiabetesWise said providers “often feel overwhelmed” by evolving diabetes technologies and the steps needed to prescribe these devices. This tool provides an up-to-date guide for ordering devices. It offers an integrated platform that allows for both prescription and ordering support all in one place.

The platform asks the user to complete four quick steps by selecting patient insurance type, device, state and insurance plan. Once selected, the site directs the user to a guide providing accurate, up-to-date coverage information. DiabetesWise said this creates a more efficient workflow and better outcomes.

Providers can sign up for email updates on all FDA-approved devices on the market and their coverage through the tool. DiabetesWise said it also offers access to provider resources, like guidance for coverage denial and policy summaries. Its device library also offers side-by-side analyses of components and details of each technology.

“The team at DiabetesWise understands how difficult it is to navigate all the options on the market, prescriptions, and insurance companies,” said Korey Hood, founder of DiabetesWise. “This is why we have evolved our Prescription Tool software to arm providers with the information needed to develop the best-customized plan for their patients and improve access to diabetes technology.”
