Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) announced today that it introduced a new diabetes management program for users of the MiniMed 770G insulin pump.

The medtech giant calls the new program My Insights. It designed it exclusively for individuals using the MiniMed 770G hybrid closed-loop insulin delivery system.

Using an individual’s data, My Insight provides personalized tips, trends and reminders to help customers manage their diabetes. Its personalized recommendations come through via monthly emails with educational content. Medtronic aims to make the content relevant based on what the individual experiences.

Medtronic said it represents the first diabetes management program to go beyond “generalized tips.” Instead, it offers personalized suggestions using data from the integrated insulin pump system.

“With diabetes, I have a lot to keep track of to stay healthy. My Insights provides me with personalized tips on how to improve the experience of my MiniMed 770G pump system,” said Melanie Licnerski a user of Medtronic technology for over two decades. “I did not expect the emotion I got from the encouragement that My Insights provides. I didn’t realize that was something I was missing and really appreciated.”

Medtronic pleased to offer “this level of personalization”

MiniMed 770G — available to those with diabetes age two and above — uses self-adjusting technology. It helps to prevent highs and lows in blood glucose by automatically adjusting insulin delivery every five minutes. The system features smartphone connectivity to view, share and automatically upload insulin and CGM data.

The company said it made My Insights available in the U.S. to anyone using MiniMed 770G.

“Our goal is to make life easier for individuals living with diabetes,” said Que Dallara, EVP & president, Medtronic Diabetes. “As we continue our journey towards a fully automated insulin delivery system, we want to surround our customers with holistic support and empower them with tools to help them achieve their goals. Diabetes is deeply personal and unique for every individual, and we’re pleased to offer this level of personalization.”
