Philips launches next-gen radiation dose management software

November 18, 2016 By Sarah Faulkner

Philips launches next-gen radiation dose management softwareRoyal Philips (NYSE:PHG) said today that it launched its 2nd generation DoseWise radiation dose management software platform for healthcare professionals to record and track radiation exposure in both patients and clinicians.

The Dutch conglomerate said it’s 2nd generation version of DoseWise Portal has enhanced connectivity and informatics capabilities to help radiology departments address problems like managing dose exposure to ensure safety and improve access to patient information for data-driven decision making.

Hospitals and healthcare providers have to comply with the new Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services payment program, MACRA, which incorporates dose management-related requirements that clinicians must follow for complete reimbursement, while still managing radiation exposure for patient and staff safety. Clinicians also have to follow the new Joint Commission standards related to CT imaging protocols and dose optimization.

Philips is highlighting the latest version of DoseWise Portal at this year’s Radiological Society of North America meeting.

“This next generation of DoseWise Portal provides clinicians with a full picture of the patient’s exposure history within that institution, for enhanced decision support to ensure proper dose optimization and justification for exam ordering is accomplished right the first time,” clinical marketing leader & former radiation safety officer Dominic Siewko said in prepared remarks. “Philips is committed to providing industry-leading technology and informatics solutions for radiation dose management. The new features in DoseWise Portal promote a culture of safety in the radiology department while allowing clinicians to tap into deep analytics and actionable insights from radiation exposure data.”
