Raumedic touts solutions for wearable drug injection devices at Pharmapack ’18

January 18, 2018 By Sarah Faulkner

Raumedic(PRESS RELEASE) – When Pharmapack opens its doors in Paris on February 7 and 8, Raumedic will be there as an exhibitor once again. At Europe’s leading trade fair for pharmaceutical packaging and drug delivery, the Helmbrechts-based company will present selected polymer solutions for the industry.

Cartridges for wearable drug delivery systems

At the Raumedic booth, visitors will learn how individual requirements of the pharmaceutical industry can be realized as marketable system solutions made from polymer. During the fair, the company will focus on disposable cartridges for mobile drug injection devices – a core element of wearable patch pumps.

Raumedic manufactures many different components for these complex units in clean room conditions according to ISO Class 7. “This complexity also makes it necessary to have versatile production methods,” says Claudia Fink, production manager in the Business Unit Systems, adding: “With us, customers receive everything from one source.” This is because Raumedic uses such a wide range of polymer processing methods: Silicone and two-component injection molding and coextrusion are just some of the technologies the manufacturer offers.

Expertise in material selection and secondary processing

As the disposable cartridge comes into direct contact with the administered drug, special attention is paid to material selection. In this connection, the materials, which are processed in a fluid pathway, need to be selected such that interactions with the relevant drug are virtually excluded.

And the expertise of the company extends beyond polymer processing and material selection. By using siliconization processes, UV bonding, laser marking and by precisely coordinating all of the components, the manufacturer sees to it that the numerous individual components are transformed into functional modules for mobile drug injection devices.
