Abbott, Google to deliver glucose insights through artificial intelligence

August 11, 2026 By Chris Newmarker

This is a marketing image for the Abbott and Google health tracking partnership that shows a man running with both a Lingo glucose sensor on his arm and a health tracker on his wrist.Abbott (NYSE: ABT) is turning to Google’s artificial intelligence expertise to leverage more glucose insights for users of the Abbott Park, Illinois–based life science giant’s Lingo biowearable.

Under a multiyear agreement announced today, ongoing glucose insights from Abbott’s Lingo biowearable will combine with Google Health’s technology to provide a more comprehensive view of people’s health.

Look out later this year for Lingo health integrations continuing to roll out in the Google Health app.

Abbott launched the Lingo over-the-counter CGM biosensor in the U.S. in September 2024. The sensor is built on the company’s FreeStyle Libre CGM technology platform for monitoring diabetes.

The collaboration with Google — which is part of Alphabet (Nasdaq: GOOG) — is meant to create an easy-to-use, AI-powered experience to bring metabolic health insights into people’s daily routines. Using the Google Health app (which can also collect data from Fitbit watches and other health trackers), Lingo users will be able to view glucose trends alongside other health and wellness metrics. Google’s AI-enabled Health Coach will use these insights to deliver personalized, contextual recommendations designed to help users build sustainable habits related to nutrition, activity, sleep and recovery.

The Abbott-Google partnership will focus on three areas:

  • Integrating ongoing glucose insights from the Lingo continuous glucose monitor (CGM) into Google Health to help users understand their body’s response to daily habits and make better lifestyle and nutrition choices in the moment.
  • Combining glucose insights with Google Health Coach to provide tailored recommendations that help people build healthier habits.
  • Conducting one of the largest real-world metabolic health studies to date, integrating continuous glucose, wearable, laboratory, and survey data to uncover connections between activity, sleep, wellbeing, and metabolic health, informing more personalized guidance that supports healthier day-to-day decisions.

“The biggest challenge in healthcare isn’t treating disease — it’s helping people stay healthier longer,” Olivier Ropars, divisional VP of Abbott’s Lingo business, said in a news release.

“Abbott’s leadership in biowearables and Google’s expertise in AI and consumer technology create a powerful opportunity to make personalized insights available at unprecedented scale. Additionally, we are advancing metabolic health research through one of the largest real-world studies of its kind, generating new insights into the relationship between glucose and everyday behaviors. That research will help shape future AI-powered guidance and metabolic health innovation. Together, we can help people better understand their bodies and take action before health challenges become health conditions.”
