The Basel, Switzerland-based company said the launch further strengthens its Contour portfolio with a solution that improves the everyday injection experience. It marks the company’s entry into the pen needle category.
Ascensia designed Contour Comfort pen needles to support ease of use in daily therapy. The needles combine advanced five-bevel tip technology and an ergonomic design for maximizing comfort and stability during injections.
Contour Comfort needles feature a unique hexagonal needle base designed with anti-tilt technology. The company says this improves stability by dispersing pressure across a larger surface area. It also reduces the risk of intramuscular injections, Ascensia says.
Patients, meanwhile, benefit from greater stability and depth control, the company notes. This helps insulin get where it needs to go, improving the user experience across the injection process. The needles also have compatibility with widely used pen injector devices.
Ascensia plans to make its pen needles available through pharmacies and other approved healthcare distribution partners. Its launch kicks off today, June, 1, 2026, in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The company plans to roll the technology out across various other countries over the next two years.
