BD (NYSE:BDX) announced today that it named Eric Borin as its president of medication delivery solutions (MDS).
Borin, 55, succeeds Rick Byrd in the role. Byrd recently received a promotion to EVP and president of BD’s interventional segment.
As president of medication delivery solutions, Borin will report to Mike Garrison, EVP and president of the BD medical segment. Borin previously served as president of pharmaceutical systems for the Franklin Lakes, New Jersey-based company.
Borin’s responsibilities include driving global strategic, operational and commercial performance of the MDS business unit.
According to a news release, he joined BD in 1996 as a technical service manager in pharmaceutical systems. He held a number of leadership roles from that point. BD named him VP and GM of North America for diabetes care in 2010. Borin then moved to the same role for pharmaceutical systems.
In 2014, Borin earned a promotion to VP and GM of BD Rx, which he led until BD divested it to Fresenius Kabi. Borin rejoined diabetes care as VP and GM of the U.S. region in 2016. He then moved to VP and GM of infusion specialty disposables in 2017. His promotion to president of pharmaceutical systems came in 2020.
“Eric has more than 25 years of BD leadership experience and is well suited to lead MDS — BD’s largest business unit by revenue,” said Garrison. “Over the past two years, Eric has led pharmaceutical systems to become one of the highest growth business units for BD and increased revenue well above BD’s long-term target.
“He has also positioned the business for the future by enabling the development of several innovative new drug delivery platforms to develop transformative solutions for the pharmaceutical industry and patients around the world.”
