CeQur closes $100M Series E to support mealtime insulin patch

CeQur announced today that it closed a $100 million Series E financing round to support its mealtime insulin delivery technology.

Horw, Switzerland-based CeQur develops the Simplicity mealtime insulin patch pump system. The wearable, disposable bolus insulin delivery system was developed as, essentially, a wearable insulin pen. CeQur began a pilot commercial launch for the FDA-cleared and CE-marked device in early 2021. In April 2021, the company raised $115 million to support that launch and scale up manufacturing.

In 2024, the FDA granted 510(k) clearance for Simplicity for an extended wear duration, expanding from three days to four. Now, the company can offer it for seven continuous days of wear to further reduce the burden of mealtime dosing regimens.

Last week, CeQur announced that the FDA cleared Simplicity for an extended wear time of up to seven days and gave the green light to a new 1-unit (1U) device.

The company says its latest milestone with the Series E reflects its momentum and marks its most ambitious phase of commercial growth.

CeQur plans to use the funds to accelerate growth across every aspect of its commercial operation. It expects to expand its field sales team while deepening relationships with providers and diabetes care specialists. With the expanded wear time and new unit options, the company believes it stands poised to meet growing demand across a broad patient population.

Commentary from CeQur officials

Bradley Paddock, president and CEO, said:

“We have the commercial infrastructure, new clinical evidence. and an exciting pipeline. Now we have the capital to accelerate our growth. CeQur Simplicity is ready to reach every patient and physician who wants to simplify their insulin delivery and improve their diabetes management.”

Mike Rubino, CFO, said:

“This financing is a direct reflection of what the CeQur team has built and the confidence our investors have placed in CeQur’s growth trajectory. We are grateful for that trust and committed to deploying this capital to deliver on the full potential of CeQur Simplicity for patients, for providers, and for every investor who believes in our mission.”
