Flex targets adults with type 2 not on intensive insulin therapy, providing an option for those on basal insulin, oral medications or GLP-1 receptor agonists. San Diego–based Dexcom says its new system, set to roll out in Germany first, expands CGM access for a broader type 2 population.
This launch comes on the heels of the company unveiling G8, its next-generation CGM system, last week.
The company designed Flex to provide 24/7 glucose readings on a smartphone, smartwatch or receiver, without routine fingersticks. Flex provides real-time glucose monitoring with optional food and activity logging to support a clearer picture of how food, exercise, daily activities and long-acting insulin impact glucose patterns.
Dexcom says its new CGM platform has optional and customizable low glucose alerts to help prevent hypoglycemic events. Personalized glucose insights aid users to connect daily diet, activity and medication dosing decisions to glucose levels.
The company currently offers its G-series CGMs and ONE+ internationally. It also plans to launch its Stelo over-the-counter CGM in Korea, Australia, New Zealand and the UK this year, according to BTIG analysts Marie Thibault, Alexandra Pang and Sam Eiber.
With Flex, the analysts see another portfolio enhancement as the company looks to enter new markets, including India, Brazil and Mexico within the next two years. They said the company views outside the U.S. as a multi-billion-dollar opportunity in the next five years.
Commentary from Dexcom officials

We strongly believe that personalised diabetes care is what helps people adopt the new habits and behavioural changes that lead to meaningful results. Dexcom Flex has been designed to support people earlier in their type 2 diabetes journey, delivering a more tailored experience while maintaining the accuracy and reliability associated with Dexcom technology.”
Alexander Fröhlich, VP and GM, DACH at Dexcom, said:
“Launching Dexcom Flex in Germany reflects our continued focus on expanding access to CGM. As personalization becomes increasingly important in Type 2 diabetes care, Flex enables a more tailored approach to glucose monitoring. By supporting people earlier in their Type 2 journey, before they require intensive insulin therapy, Flex may help improve long‑term health outcomes and contribute to meaningful reductions in diabetes-related complications.”
