The integration enables users of the Roche continuous glucose monitor (CGM) to bring their data into Glooko alongside data from other connected diabetes and health monitoring devices, such as insulin pumps, wearables and more. This can reduce the administrative burden for healthcare teams, allow for the viewing of key insights in one place and support effective collaboration between patient visits, according to a news release.
Glooko and Roche say they plan to complete the integration across select European countries, subject to local availability.
Roche — one of the largest diabetes tech companies in the world — first unveiled its AI-powered Accu-Chek SmartGuide in an event at the 2024 Advanced Technologies & Treatments for Diabetes (ATTD) conference. It won CE mark for the 14-day CGM in July 2024. With the Predict app, users can better manage their glycemic control. It uses predictive algorithms informed by real-time glucose values and delivers insights to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia.
Accu-Chek SmartGuide’s AI features help provide actionable information, utilizing real-time CGM sensor data and user-entered information. It has three key predictive functionalities that show state-of-the-art accuracy and performance.
Glooko’s diabetes management platforms enable patients to share diabetes data with healthcare providers. That includes blood glucose readings, insulin doses, food and carbs, exercise activity, blood pressure and weight.
The companies expect to make their integration available in the coming weeks in select European markets.
“Diabetes data is only powerful when it’s accessible, connected, and easy to act on,” said Mike Alvarez, CEO of Glooko. “By integrating Roche’s Accu-Chek SmartGuide CGM into the Glooko platform, we’re expanding choice for people with diabetes and clinicians. Now, they can bring Accu-Chek SmartGuide CGM data together with the rest of the patient’s health and medication therapy context, in a single experience designed to support better, more informed decisions.”
