Tandem Diabetes Care (NSDQ:TNDM) has submitted a medical device license application to Health Canada in the hopes of launching its t:slim X2 insulin pump in Canada in the second half of this year.
The San Diego, Calif.-based company expects that its device will be able to display both English and French and will include a 24-hour clock.
“This application is another important step toward achieving our strategic goal of bringing the benefits of the t:slim X2 Insulin Pump to people outside of the United States,” president & CEO Kim Blickenstaff said in prepared remarks.
“When available, the t:slim X2 will provide people in Canada a competitive choice in the durable insulin pump market, which we believe will be of particular interest as the only pump with Dexcom G5 Mobile CGM integration.”
Last week, Tandem inked its first distribution agreement outside the U.S. for its insulin delivery device. In partnership with Rubin Medical, the company plans to commercialize its t:slim X2 insulin pump, insulin cartridges and t:lock infusion sets in Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
