On LinkedIn today, the San Diego-based automated insulin delivery system developer said:
“It’s here! The Tandem t:slim X2 insulin pump now integrates with the Dexcom G7 15 Day CGM system!”
The t:slim X2, Tandem’s flagship pump, already integrated with Dexcom’s G7 continuous glucose monitor (CGM), going back to 2023. However, that CGM offers a 10-day wear time. Dexcom introduced G7 15 Day last year, extending the wear time by five days.
G7 15 Day received FDA clearance for people over the age of 18 years old in the U.S. in April. Clearance made the G7, Dexcom’s latest-generation CGM, the longest-lasting wearable CGM, according to the company. The offering delivers several features of the existing G7 platform. That includes a waterproof sensor, connectivity to the Apple Watch, plus automated activity, simplified meal and new medication logging. Its 12-hour grace period allows a seamless transition when replacing sensors as well.
New features include the longer wear, reaching up to 15.5 days, plus a mean absolute relative difference (MARD, a measure of CGM accuracy) of 8%. It also offers easier glucose management with fewer monthly sensor changes and reduced waste. G7 15 Day is indicated for ages 18 and up.
t:slim X2, a leading pump system, is powered by Control-IQ+ technology. It has an advanced hybrid closed-loop automated insulin delivery feature. It predicts and helps prevent high and low blood sugar. Control-IQ leads to improved time in range throughout the day and night.
