Trelleborg plans to be on site at MD&M West 2017, a medical technology conference in California next month, highlighting its portfolio of engineered coated fabrics for medical, orthopedic and surgical applications, as well as the company’s contract manufacturing services for drug-device combination products.
Trelleborg Engineered Coated Fabrics develops polyurethane, rubber and silicone-coated fabrics for devices such as drug delivery systems and mini-pumps that support joints.
“As a recognized leader in a broad range of engineered polymer coated solutions, we can offer medical equipment manufacturers and contract converters unique advantages in delivering a 1 stop shop and access to our decades of coatings expertise to solve any formulation challenges,” Sarah McGuire, director of sales & marketing for Trelleborg Engineered Coated Fabric’s New Haven facility, said in prepared remarks. “Whether it’s marrying multiple fabrics and coatings or delivering on difficult prototype specifications, our shoulder-to-shoulder engineering and collaborative approach gives our customers superior quality, performance and a competitive edge.”
Trelleborg Sealing Solutions plans to feature its contract manufacturing services for drug-device combination products. The company reported that it can provide complete product development and manufacturing for drug-eluting medical devices.
Trelleborg’s FDA-licensed drug manufacturing facility boasts a system that can handle design, feasibility, prototyping, clinical builds and commercial releases, according to the company. The facility layout was designed for maximum flexibility and can procure an API, compound a drug into a device, fabricate a drug component and assemble the component into the combination product.
The company has also developed silicone extrusion technology, GeoTrans, which produces geometric tubing in complex patterns.
“As a global leader in engineered polymer solutions, we are well-suited to leverage deep expertise in material science, biochemistry, mechanical engineering, process design, and quality systems to meet our customers’ specific needs,” Trelleborg Sealing Solutions’ global director for healthcare & medical Drew Rogers said. “We are thrilled to have further expanded our portfolio of silicone products, increased our ability to work with many bioabsorbable materials and manufacture drug-eluting components as well as complete drug-device combination products.”
