The company made its automated insulin delivery system available in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Omnipod 5 became the world’s first available tubeless, wearable, automated insulin delivery system when it received FDA clearance in January 2022. It then became the first and only such system cleared for type 1 and type 2 diabetes in August 2024.
Now, the waterproof, discreet, wearable patch pump that communicates with a sensor to proactively correct for glucose highs and protect against lows is available for more people with diabetes. Its indications in the Middle East cover individuals aged two years and older with type 1 diabetes. The system can pair with the Abbott FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus and Dexcom G7 sensor in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the UAE. In Qatar, it can pair with G7.
In an interview with Drug Delivery Business News in June 2025, Insulet SVP and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Trang Ly, mentioned the company’s plans to expand in the Middle East. This comes on the heels of a widespread Omnipod 5 rollout in several different geographies, including Australia, Belgium, Canada and Switzerland. That followed the launch of Omnipod 5 in five new European countries at the start of 2025.
CEO Ashley McEvoy outlined some of the plans for Omnipod in an interview with Drug Delivery Business News last fall, while she and other Insulet leaders expanded on those plans during the company’s November Investor Day event. They touched on the Middle East and, notably, the planned launch of Omnipod Discover.

Omnipod Discover, a proprietary and retrospective data analytics and reporting platform, was designed for Omnipod 5 users, their caregivers and healthcare providers. It streamlines the analysis of glucose and insulin delivery data to deliver meaningful insights.
Insulet said Omnipod Discover transforms complex information into clear, relevant trends and recommendations to inform diabetes management. Using a web-based, intuitive display, the platform shows how the Omnipod 5 algorithm automates insulin delivery. It enables the understanding of trends to make decisions confidently, the company said.
With Omnipod Discover, users can access their data with insights in a simplified way that empowers them to understand and manage their diabetes.
Insulet plans to introduce Omnipod Discover in its Middle Eastern markets first, then expand to other countries where Omnipod 5 is available. With its latest rollouts, the system has availability in 19 countries. Insulet also plans to launch in Spain in 2026, followed by Greece and Croatia in the first half of 2027.
