The system represents the first and only solution that integrates data from the InPen smart insulin pen and the Simplera continuous glucose monitor (CGM) sensor into a single mobile app. Medtronic (soon to separate its Diabetes business into MiniMed through a recently priced initial public offering) designed it to help people who use MDI to better control their diabetes. It plans to begin rolling out the offering gradually across Europe this month.
European approval covers people with insulin-requiring diabetes aged 7 years and older. It also covers children between ages 2-6 under the supervision of an adult caregiver.
Medtronic’s European launch marks the latest milestone for MiniMed Go, which last month won FDA clearance in the U.S. The company’s offering in the U.S. pairs with the Instinct sensor made by Abbott, while Simplera integration remains under review. Compatibility with Instinct in Europe remains under CE mark review. Once approved, European users can choose between a 7-day or 15-day sensor, depending on what best fits their needs.

MiniMed Go also features new CareLink Clinic MDI reports. These make it easier for clinicians to interpret user data and support more informed patient discussions.
