The Northridge, California-based former Medtronic Diabetes unit launched its MiniMed 780G automated insulin delivery system integrated with Instinct, along with the MiniMed Go system paired with the Instinct Go sensor. Both sensors, made by Abbott and offered by Medtronic through a collaboration between the companies, will be gradually rolled out across Europe beginning this month.
MiniMed said the launch further expands its glucose sensing and diabetes management portfolio in the region. It follows launches of both integrated offerings in the U.S. in recent months, with 780G and Instinct rolling out in December 2025, followed by Go’s launch last month.
When paired with MiniMed 780G, Medtronic’s latest-generation automated insulin delivery system, Instinct provides real-time glucose readings, helping the pump automate insulin adjustments every five minutes. The system also offers meal detection technology and provides automatic adjustments and corrections to sugar levels every five minutes. This occurs for both basal (background) and bolus (mealtime) insulin needs.
MiniMed Go, a connected smart multiple daily injection (MDI) system, integrates the InPen smart insulin pen with Instinct Go. It all integrates within a mobile app to deliver real-time, personalized insights and actionable guidance. The platform targets people living with diabetes who manage their condition using MDI, simplifying insulin management without adding complexity to daily life.
The company won FDA clearance for the integrated offering in January.
Que Dallara, CEO of MiniMed, said:
“People with diabetes should not have to choose between flexibility and performance when managing their diabetes — and with MiniMed, they don’t have to. Expanding our sensor portfolio across Europe with Instinct and Instinct Go means more people can access the proven outcomes, intelligent insights, and seamless automation MiniMed is known for. This is about meeting people where they are and building technology that fits their life — not the other way around. That’s what drives us every day.”
