MyLife Diabetes Care completes transition to independent company

MyLife Diabetes Care announced that its transition into an independent company has now been formally completed.

In August, Ypsomed announced that it completed the sale of its diabetes care business to TecMed AG. With this sale, the company transitioned MyLife from a business unit into a standalone company. This follows a recent medtech trend, with both BD (Embecta) and Medtronic (MiniMed) deciding to separate their diabetes businesses within the past few years.

MyLife Diabetes Care said today in a LinkedIn post that the transition was complete. Over the past several months, the company said it brought together legal, HR, IT, regulatory affairs, facilities, finance, marketing and more functions to ensure that the completion took place.

Now, the company says it turns its focus fully toward “shaping the next chapter.”

“A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed their time, expertise, and dedication to making this transition possible,” the company posted. “What you’ve built together will create a meaningful impact — for our colleagues and for people living with diabetes.”

The now-independent company offers the Ypsomed MyLife Loop tube pump system, which includes the MyLife YpsoPump and automated insulin delivery solution CamAPS FX, with its own patch pump program. It also intends to offer the pump system with Abbott’s future dual glucose/ketone sensor.

Ypsomed’s experience in insulin pump therapy also sets up MyLife for the planned future launch of a patch pump. The company joins a range of outfits looking to rival leader Insulet with their own patch systems, including Medtronic, Beta Bionics and Tandem Diabetes Care, who are developing their own. PharmaSens and SiBionics also recently unveiled their own entry, an all-in-one device.
