San Diego-based Tandem launched the pairing of its flagship automated insulin delivery system with Control-IQ+ technology with Abbott’s latest continuous glucose monitor (CGM) sensor in the U.S. in October 2025.
This launch expands the combination of the automated insulin delivery system and CGM in the UK, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland and Italy. Additionally, Tandem aims to bring the integration to Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany later this year.
“People using AID want flexibility in the devices they use,” said Dr. Jordan Pinsker, Tandem chief medical officer. “The addition of Abbott’s latest-generation sensor expands CGM choice for people using our Control-IQ+ technology.”
t:slim X2, powered by Control-IQ+ technology, has an advanced hybrid closed-loop automated insulin delivery feature. It predicts and helps prevent high and low blood sugar. Control-IQ leads to improved time in range throughout the day and night.
FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus is the company’s latest-generation CGM designed for insulin pump integration. Its readings every minute can help insulin pumps adjust to users’ needs. The system also offers a 15-day wear time. t:slim X2 users can also access data on their t:slim mobile app, offering multiple ways to view glucose trends.
“This is an exciting next step in our strategy to connect the Tandem portfolio of insulin pumps to Abbott’s FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensors worldwide,” said Igor Friedmann, SVP, International, Tandem. “We look forward to expanding access for our t:slim X2 pump users in more countries in the coming months.”
