The Utrecth, the Netherlands-based company said McDonagh’s appointment further strengthens its leadership team as it scales commercial execution across Europe. It also bolsters the company amid preparations for its next-generation Kaleido system, including expected European and U.S. launches.
McDonagh’s appointment comes on the heels of a $98 million financing closed earlier this month. CEO Tom Arnold explained the company’s plans for a big commercial push with the funds in an interview with Drug Delivery Business News last fall.
ViCentra develops the Kaleido insulin pump system, which it describes as the smallest, lightest and most precise insulin patch pump in its class.
It continues to work on bringing the next-generation Kaleido insulin patch pump to the U.S. market. The company hopes to enter a hot patch pump market, led by Insulet, with potential competitors, like Medtronic/MiniMed, Beta Bionics and Tandem Diabetes Care, are developing their own patch pumps. PharmaSens and SiBionics also recently unveiled their own entry, an all-in-one device, too.
“Reman joins ViCentra at a pivotal stage as we transition from strong early traction to disciplined, scalable growth,” said Arnold. “She brings a rare combination of deep diabetes expertise, end-to-end marketing leadership, and operational rigor, as we strengthen our presence in key European markets and prepare for U.S. market entry.”
More about new ViCentra VP, Global Marketing, Reman McDonagh
McDonagh brings more than 20 years of experience in diabetes and medical device commercialization to ViCentra. Her work spans early-stage innovation all the way through large-scale international growth. Past stops include Roche, Medtronic, Cellnovo and Insulet. At those places, she had responsibility across brand strategy, go-to-market planning, market development and major product launches.
Most recently, McDonagh held senior international marketing leadership roles at Insulet. There, she led the direct launch of the Omnipod Dash system across 12 European countries. She also helped shape Insulet’s European launch strategy for its latest-generation Omnipod 5.
In her new role at ViCentra, McDonagh will lead the global marketing strategy, including strengthening Kaleido’s value proposition, accelerating demand generation in priority European markets and driving cross-functional readiness for upcoming product launches.
“Kaleido is a truly differentiated insulin delivery system, and ViCentra has built meaningful momentum through a clear focus on the user experience,” said McDonagh. “I’m excited to join the team as we scale in key markets and prepare for the next generation of Kaleido, bringing greater choice, flexibility, and freedom to more people living with diabetes.”
