The biggest diabetes tech news out of ATTD 2026

Diabetes technology innovators gathered in Barcelona last week for the 19th annual Advanced Technologies and Treatments for Diabetes Conference (ATTD 2026).

At ATTD 2026, a range of companies shared the latest updates, including product launches, new clinical data, enhancements to existing offerings and more.

Topics included automated insulin delivery, continuous glucose monitors (CGMs), and breakthroughs for type 2 diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), among others.

CamDiab introduces fully closed-loop automated insulin delivery tech

At ATTD 2026, CamDiab introduced CamAPS Liberty, a fully closed-loop feature for its CamAPS FX app.

The integration of Liberty — which the company labeled the world’s first fully closed-loop feature — supports users with type 1 diabetes when daily demands prove challenging. It pauses the need to count carbohydrates or deliver meal boluses, fully automating insulin delivery.

When activated, a user can enable a fully closed-loop mode, eliminating the need to count carbohydrates or deliver a pre-meal insulin bolus. Powered by a more proactive version of the CamAPS algorithm, Liberty can anticipate and respond to glucose changes.

MiniMed picks up CE mark for MiniMed 780G pump with Instinct sensor made by Abbott

ATTD 2026 represented MiniMed’s first event as a publicly traded company as it separates from Medtronic. The company marked it by announcing a significant milestone in Europe.

The company announced at ATTD that it received CE mark for the use of its MiniMed 780G with the Instinct sensor made by Abbott. It now offers more sensor choices for users of its most advanced automated insulin delivery system.

The 780G system offers meal detection technology and provides automatic adjustments and corrections to sugar levels every five minutes. When paired with 780G, Instinct provides real-time glucose readings, helping the pump automate its insulin adjustments and delivery. Abbott based the Instinct sensor on its most advanced FreeStyle Libre technology. Medtronic touts it as the world’s smallest, thinnest, most discreet sensor, with a wear time of up to 15 days.

Dexcom highlights breakthrough type 2 diabetes outcomes at ATTD

Dexcom shared a handful of findings at ATTD 2026, including important data on type 2 diabetes.

The company says that new registry data demonstrates that long-term use of the Dexcom G7 CGM supports weight management and lowers A1C for people with type 2 diabetes who aren’t on insulin therapy. Analysts recently said that this population could offer a growth catalyst for Dexcom in the coming years.

Dexcom also shared several abstracts demonstrating how its CGMs can help improve long-term health and reduce hospitalizations across diabetes types. Findings included one-year real-world impact data on Dexcom CGM on HbA1C in non-insulin-treated type 2 diabetes from U.S. primary care evidence. Claims data also highlighted the association of CGM initiation with reductions in diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)-related hospitalizations and emergency room visits in those with type 1 diabetes.

Insulet shares study outcomes supporting fully closed-loop insulin pump for type 2 diabetes

Insulet shared findings from the EVOLUTION 2 study at ATTD 2026. EVOLUTION 2 marks the second in a series of feasibility studies support the development of a fully closed-loop Omnipod system.

The maker of the Omnipod 5 — the world’s first available tubeless, wearable, automated insulin delivery system — said during a 2025 Investor Day event that it plans to bring its first fully closed-loop system to the type 2 diabetes population by 2028. President and CEO Ashley McEvoy laid out some of those plans in a November 2025 interview with Drug Delivery Business News.

More than 90% of participants chose to continue into the ongoing extension phase. Insulet said this demonstrated strong interest and positive experiences with the fully closed-loop system.

Abbott highlights burden of DKA, outlines better type 2 outcomes

Abbott‘s ATTD 2026 included data on both the burden of DKA and the importance of its FreeStyle Libre CGMs in type 2 diabetes.

First, the company shared findings from three studies that showed significant gaps in the early detection of rising ketones among people with diabetes and healthcare providers. The company says that clinicians lacked guidance on how and when to intervene before DKA develops.

Second, Abbott’s FreeDM2 study showed that people using FreeStyle Libre CGM technology had better glucose outcomes than those using traditional fingersticks. Users achieved improvements through participant-led self-management, guided by real-time CGM insights.

Afon Technology highlights accuracy of non-invasive blood glucose monitor

UK-based Afon Technologies made its mark at ATTD 2026 with the unveiling of data for its Glucowear non-invasive glucose monitor.

The non-invasive blood glucose monitor demonstrated significant accuracy in its first trial, the company said. CEO Sabih Chaudhry wore the device, testing it during his regulatory daily activities with the sensor placed on his dominant hand.

Afon says preliminary results demonstrated the potential of Glucowear in real-life settings. It plans to continue working to improve the performance and reliability of its glucose estimation models.

Senseonics reports sustained year-long CGM implant outcomes, insulin pump integration benefits

Senseonics shared real-world evidence demonstrating the long-term performance and positive impact of the world’s first year-long CGM at ATTD 2026.

Eversense 365, an implantable system, rests under the skin for the duration of a year. Users can change its external, silicone-based adhesive daily with almost no skin reactions. It also pairs with the Sequel Med Tech twiist pump in an integration launched earlier this year.

In the study shared at ATTD, Senseonics said its CGM delivered strong patient adherence, glucometrics and hypoglycemic outcomes. It also delivered comparable adherence and outcomes between the first and second six-month period. This indicated high accuracy and performance from a single sensor implant over an entire year.

SiBionics highlights benefits of AI in CGM tech

At ATTD 2026, SiBionics shared new findings outlining how AI can extend the value of CGM technology beyond just monitoring.

The company said it introduced several AI-driven capabilities to its CGM platform to translate daily data into practical insights. One feature, a multi-day time in range (TIR) overview, combines with a spike analysis feature. Together, they enable clinicians and patients to identify glucose patterns over time and support more precise clinical decisions.

SiBionics also added a smart logging and tagging feature. Using AI-powered voice logging, users can describe daily events like meals, exercise or medication. The system automatically organizes the information into structured health records.
